The first in our 3-part series on “I’d Run That” is Desert Dreaming.
It’s spring, and we’re dreaming of dry desert running, where landscapes are barren and the conditions are hostile for plants and animals.
But not for ultra runners.
It’s in the desert where we see that all forms of life are truly awe-inspiring. Cacti grow to amazing heights with little water. Dust devils swarm around us as we run across the cracked landscape. The silence of desert canyons are our only friends.
But those vibrant desert blooms remind us why we do this: when everything around us seems lifeless, we pull ourselves from the darkness across that finish line.
I’d run that.
